Sequence our Seas introduces the concept of environmental DNA and demonstrates to community groups how it can be used to reveal the biodiversity within their local marine environments. We focus on introducing STEM concepts, particularly genetic literacy and computational biology skills which will be in great demand in our science future. Incorporating high-tech, highly participatory science programs sparks interest in ocean health and helps activate community groups into protecting them.
